FAQs

Can weighing scales be inaccurate?

Weigh scales are generally calibrated to be extremely accurate. Usually upon start up, the scales recalibrate and set them selves to 0, but if they are on an incline or already have an object on the scales while calibrating, it can interfere with the calibration process and provide incorrect readings. It is always advisable to keep weighing scales on a level surface with the scales clear whilst it is calibrating.

Can you weigh without a scale?

You can weigh without a scale if you have something of known weight to use as a reference. This however may not be accurate to it is always recommended to use a weigh scale if knowing the weight of an item is critical. An alternative is to use a balance which again uses a reference weight to measure against, but may not be as accurate as a weigh scale.
