What are lift tables?

Lift tables feature a platform supported by a scissor-like lifting mechanism, which can be operated manually, using electricity, hydraulics or pneumatics to lift products and people to high storage areas like racking for loading and unloading stock.

Why lift tables?

Smaller warehouse settings that don't have the space for fork lift trucks or VNA's will benefit from a lift table for picking and storing products and easily performing stock checks. They're also useful for completing maintenance and repair works at a height.

Lift table types

There's a wide choice of lift tables available on the market. Here are a few of the most common.

**• Mobile lift tables   -   **trolley-like in design, these lift tables can be moved around where required

**• Low profile lift tables   -   **designed with a low profile table that allows products to be loaded via forklife and pallet truck. Often features a ramp

Considerations when choosing lift tables

• Platform size - this should be either the same size as the load being lifted or slightly larger.

• Maximum weight capacity - this should meet or exceed the maximum weight you wish to load onto the table and will be found on the technical data sheet under SWL or Safe Working Load.

• Other features - features that may suit your operations include a trolley-like, mobile lift table or a tilt function for heavier loads.

• Safety - working at a height requires a risk assessment, especially when lifting people. Barriers are a good option to prevent items falling, as are safety harnesses to protect against falling from a height.
